Designed for Our Future Students from the School of the Arts & Sciences designed and built drums based based on many different cultures and their histories. Special guest speakers were also brought in to help bridge the connection between the history of the drum and what it can symbolize in todays modern world.

Drum Project

Students from the School of the Arts & Sciences in San Francisco designed and built drums using large cardboard tubes and other materials. They also decorated their drums using glue, paper, acrylics, and other supplies that they may have found at home or in the classroom.

Inspiration for this project was gathered through many methods, but especially through guest speakers and presentations. More specifically, Robert Natata from the San Francisco State University DAI program spoke with the students about the culture and historical design of the drum-allowing students to learn on a whole new level.
