Student Director: Holly I. Burton

I joined the Industrial Design Outreach (iDo) program in the fall of 2006, because programs like iDo are one in a million, and I wanted to make a positive difference in the lives of children who struggle both emotionally and academically.

Since joining iDo my biggest challenge has been in understanding why these children feel so lost, and why so many of them appear to be angry at the world. With every child the answer is different. However, when you break through their rough exterior it is the most rewarding feeling a person can experience, because they allow you to see a different side of them, and whether they want to or not, they begin to learn new things.

With each of these experiences I am inspired to help create new tools for iDo,like the foundations website-which serves as both an educational resource for instructors and students, and also provides them with tools to expand upon their futures with.
